Job Summary: This is professional work performing data
collection and data management functions and assisting project
scientists in environmental restoration and environmental
Job duties include:
- Performs water quality, biological, and sediment sampling
associated with the Lower St. Johns River Management Program;
assists with data management, analysis and interpretation.
- Assists in the design, implementation and maintenance of
scientific assessments and monitoring networks.
- Performs tasks associated with the collection and analysis of
water quality, biological and sediment quality data and in the
development of data tables, presentation graphics and reports.
- Collects spatial data (GPS) associated with various monitoring
and assessment efforts, plots data and integrates with GIS
- Develops and maintains water, biological and/or sediment
quality database and performs basic statistical analysis of
historic and new data.
- Assists the Field Program Supervisor with the scheduling of
water quality monitoring network sample collections and supervises
sample processing in the laboratory.
- Assists and supervises contractors with collection of water
quality, sediment and biological samples in support of all Lower
St. Johns River Basin Management Program projects.
Communicate and work well with others, as a team; endure harsh
outdoor environments in uncomfortable/extreme temperatures,
inclement weather, and remote locations; lift and/or move
equipment; maintain a priority of safety, data integrity, and
efficiency during sampling events; make effective, consistent, and
defensible decisions in the field; operate or learn to operate
vehicles/vessels to access sites (e.g. outboard motor boat, kayak,
airboat, ATV and four-wheel drive truck).
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in
biology, limnology, chemistry, botany, zoology, or a field directly
related to natural resource management and two years professional
experience in the environmental field.
An advanced degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis for
the required experience. Professional experience as described above
can substitute on a year- for-year basis for the required college
A valid Florida Driver's License, Class E, is required.
Base Salary: $42,494.40
