Position Summary
The Material Buyer will perform routine planning and procurement of various commodities using PLEX- MRP system. Plans, purchases, and expedite in support of production schedules and capital/MRO materials and services. Maintains the MRP system data and its integrity, prepares and analyzes reports, and supports project management of existing and new products. Supports all activities is maintaining inventory accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. However, other duties may be assigned.

• Reviews and maintains MRP requirements for all assigned supplier accounts. Ensuring that both firm and forecasted releases are maintained.
• Work and support all continuous improvement activities to include but not limited to full PLEX auto release.
• Consistently and accurately maintain PLEX part parameter to support Materials Dept. KPI.
• Creates order releases to support MRP min/max for all purchased supplied parts.
• Maintains records of blanket purchase orders and releases for assigned suppliers.
• Monitors raw material receipts for released materials ensuring match of quantities released and received
• Effectively communicates and works closely with schedulers to ensure purchased materials are maintained to support planned operations to include normal conditions and bank builds.
• Communicates with suppliers as required to ensure uninterrupted material flow and ultimately supports customers (i.e. shortages, increases, release issues, logistics, obsolescence, etc.).
• Manages build-outs, phase-outs to eliminate obsolescence
• Maintain PLEX purchasing releases to ensure updated system records at all times
• Conduct routine and scheduled cycle counts relating to raw/purchased materials in support of accurate raw release management.
• Lead/assists in root cause analysis in trouble shooting findings and errors relating to raw inv. Errors.
• Maintains delivery performance matrix for all assigned suppliers
• Champions corrective actions required to ensure delivery performance goals are achieved for all assigned suppliers. (Goal of 100% on time delivery)
• Maintains contact information for all assigned suppliers.
• Documents all inbound premium freight incidents with accurate documentation for Root Cause Analysis.
• Champions corrective actions required to eliminate premium freight for inbound shipments for all suppliers.
• Communicates with supplier, vendors and establishes a favorable relationship accordingly.
• Assists with supplier development as necessary Education and Job Experience Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Minimum 2-yrs experience in comparable position or extensive knowledge of process and process capabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of the fundamental structure and workings of an MRP and/or ERP system Related KPIs
    • Inventory Days on Hand (DOH) for Raw material

    • Cost of Premium Freight (inbound) Work Environment and Physical Demands
      • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, scanners, etc.).
      • Position requires the abilities to walk, sit, stand, lift and carry up to 25 pounds; ability to hear, understand and convey verbal communications of and to other personnel.
